Hunting is incredibly challenging, mentally and physically. Bow hunting takes both those challenges to a whole new level, which I think I've said somewhere before. I lift, run and shoot (buy the shirt here) to prepare for hunting season, but a successful season yields tons of beautiful organic lean protein which means I have to find different ways to cook it to nourish my husband and I's bodies and souls. Hence why my shirt needs to say "Lift, Run, Shoot, Cook" because I get to do all of the above, which really does make things come somewhat full circle.

A Reel Lady's Cheater Venison Stir Fry
(Behold the most complex recipe in the history of wild game cooking)
Start with venison cut into fajita strips (our butcher does this then I just clean them up a bit and sometimes chop them in half). Then add lemon pepper & salt and toss them around in that. Then throw them in a skillet until they brown. Usually happens rather quickly since they are pretty thin strips of meat.
PS. Isn't the above photo just gorgeous. Perfect deep red meat cooking. Yumm.
Then add your stir fry veggies. If you are an over achiever you can use fresh veggies. I call this the "cheater recipe" because I used frozen stir fry mix of veggies (including water chestnuts. The Mr. was highly impressed with those, until I divulged the whole frozen veggie from a bag thing). Stir on medium heat until veggies reach desired tenderness, and then you're done. How flipping easy is that? A really simple really healthy meal and it was done in like 15 minutes. I didn't make a roux for my stir fry which I have done before, but wasn't impressed with.
Next up my favorite new exercise to add to my daily run.
I'm always looking for new challenging things to add to my daily run to keep me lifting, but also to keep me from getting bored. This definitely fit the bill on challenging.

I use a 10lb dumbbell and holy wow. I feel this workout everywhere. For the next two days after it, it hurts to laugh. Planks are plenty tough alone, but add one hand holding you and a dumbbell into the equation and it gets way tougher. I'm still attempting to get the beloved Mathews Jewel up to 50lbs on draw weight (currently at 45lbs), so I'm working my tail off to lift lift lift in hopes of getting there ASAP. If any of my faithful loyal readers (the two that there are, Hi Mom & Dad) have any suggestions on getting bow weight up let me know what they are!

Great post! I have to try that venison stirfry, it sounds like a great weeknight meal. And I always follow your fitness pins, I'm working on getting that draw-weight up too, I don't want to wimp out on the new bow!
